Overview

In Hrid Vasthi, the reservoir of dough is placed in the middle of the chest to cure muscular chest pain, respiratory diseases and heart disease. In Kathi Vasthi, medicated oil is poured on the Sacro-lumbar region of the back to cure lower back problems. Another prominent treatment is Siro Vasthi in which a fitted cap is placed on the head and then medicated herbal oil is poured for 15 to 60 minutes. The scalp absorbs the oil and it is believed to stimulate Crown Chakra (related to consciousness). This treatment is excellent for hair conditioning, de-stressing the body, facial paralysis, depression, insomnia, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat illnesses and severe headaches. Medicated oil called Dhan Wantharam, that contains 28 herbs and has an earthy fragrance, is often used in Indian spas for its effective pain relieving properties.
