Overview

The most important ingredient used in this therapy is a herbal pouch used either as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other therapies. Basically, Snehana is an oil therapy in which specially selected herbs, plants, roots and stems are tied tightly in a cloth and then dipped in medicated herbal oil for application on body. The herbal ingredients are steamed for some time before knotting them into linen pouches. The ingredients of the pouch are chosen based on the constitution of the recipient, either to enhance a particular dosha or to depress certain properties of a dosha. The pouch is used to sooth sprained, sore or swollen parts of the body. It is applied for treatment of various diseases and ailments such as neurologic and rheumatic pains, disc prolapsed or lower back pain among others the heated pouch, when gently massaged over the body, produces sweat and brings toxins on the surface of the body, produces sweat and absorb the goodness of the pouch (properties of herbs) for complete healing and detoxification.
